I have long admired the line in Stevie Wonder's 'Please Don't Go' where he sings: "Baby, please don't leave, don't leave Steve." I recently came across a song by Steve Monite, 'Only You', where he refers to himself (Steve) a lot, and it got me thinking: are there any other songs where the singer refers to their own name? (especially Steve) I would love any songs where the singer refers to themself - Betty Wright, 'Let me be Your Lovemaker' comes to mind - but songs by and about 'Steve' are particularly appreciated.

<![CDATA[Webcam Karaoke]]> http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/180455

I would like to display Karaoke lyrics over a live webcam feed. This means I might need a skype (or equivalent) plugin that plays the music & lyrics, or find some karaoke software with the ability to display lyrics over a transparent background. (That is, to have windowless karaoke display, and run the webcam feed behind it. )

All the software (I can find) to play .CDG (karaoke lyric standard) files forces them to be played with an image background, or over a video file. (I am using a PC to do this job, but do have access to Mac if necessary.)

The ability to display the karaoke lyrics over a webcam feed is the most important thing. My aim is to have the feed act as the 'background' to the karaoke lyrics, whether that happens using one program or two doesn't matter too much. I would ideally like to able able to record the webcam feed AND the lyrics into one final video file, but I assume this can be done with a video capture program anyway.

The closest option I have found so far is this plugin for winamp.

I can get a transparent background, but the plugin displays all lyrics simultaneously, not in a traditional karaoke fashion.

Winamp might be a desirable option. Build a plugin for the purpose perhaps? Hack an existent plugin?

Some other karaoke software I have tried (unsuccessfully):

Karafun Karaoke5 PyKaraoke

Thanks in advance!

<![CDATA[Regulate (song) Synopsis - Wikipedia]]> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulate_(song)#Synopsis

On a cool, clear night (typical to Southern California) Warren G travels through his neighborhood, searching for women with whom he might initiate sexual intercourse. He has chosen to engage in this pursuit alone.

Nate Dogg, having just arrived in Long Beach, seeks Warren. On his way to find Warren, Nate passes a car full of women who are excited to see him. Regardless, he insists to the women that there is no cause for excitement.

Warren makes a left turn at 21st Street and Lewis Ave, in the East Hill/Salt Lake neighborhood[6], where he sees a group of young men enjoying a game of dice together. He parks his car and greets them. He is excited to find people to play with, but to his chagrin, he discovers they intend to relieve him of his material possessions. Once the hopeful robbers reveal their firearms, Warren realizes he is in a less than favorable predicament.

Meanwhile, Nate passes the women, as they are low on his list of priorities. His primary concern is locating Warren. Af

<![CDATA['It's time to let you hear the song which earned me a juvenile restraining order']]> http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2010/apr/07/andrew-wk-juvenile-restraining-order

Aged 17, I set about writing a song for a girl I was obsessed with. When she heard it, she called the police. Have a listen – you'll understand why.

I've never let anyone hear this song before. I'm deeply humiliated and embarrassed at the thought of anyone hearing it. This is probably the most intense and personal song I've ever recorded – it's called My Destiny and it was written and recorded when I was 17. I shouldn't do this.

I was in high school in the 1990s, in a town called Ann Arbor in Michigan. I had a crush on a girl and was deeply and passionately fixated on her. She had a baby face, a 14-tooth smile, large eyes, a crowned forehead, an oversized brow and a tender style. She consumed me with both lust and hatred – lust, because I was truly drawn to her beauty and soft skin, and hatred because she rarely spoke to me, wouldn't look at me much and never gave me a chance to show her my deep affections. I used to call her house just to listen to her say, "Hello?" Then I'd hang
